computer problems

i was wandering if anybody has eve rhad this happen or knows how to fix it...when i log on to my computer it acts liek it is loging in but never goes anywhere. should i just let dell support fix it for $200 some dollars or what

Take it to ECI solutions in Wise, across from the courthouse...they will charge you alot less than 200 dollars and youll have your puter back in a couple of days. Theres nothing really wrong with your computer, at the very worst it may have to be reformatted which will only cost you about 75 dollars.

I had that same problem. Try unhooking your printer cable if you have one. If not it could be your monitor cable that is causing it. If you have another monitor or a friend that has one then try hooking it up to your computer and see if that works.

Try unhooking the printer cable first though and then booting it up. If this is the problem then getting a new cable for your printer should solve it.

I dont know how good of a job they do but i just seen a new add for g2k games that they are now working of repairing computers and playstations and xboxes. might be worth calling them over it.

Hit you a ctrl-alt-delete, when it hangs on the boot, and see what it shows as 'not responding'.

thats a possibilty, memory could be getting eat up at startup.....but Im not really sure if he meant if it would boot at all, or stay on the boot window that lets you choose different users. If he cant get past that screen then that usually indicates that a virus or spyware has attacked the registry. If thats the case, he might be able to get into safe mode and roll back a few days on the restore feature. Of course when you have a virus, 75% of the time the virus is located in the restore directory [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

All valid points there....
if the restore feature is on, its very useful as long as u didnt get eaten up to bad by viruses, if you can go back, then the key is to scan that freakin thing asap.

If it is just going to the screen that says Windows XP and trying to load, then going to a black screen forever, then I had the same exact problem. Unhooking the printer cable worked just fine for me and it booted up perfectly every other time I've tried to boot up. But I guess that may or may not be the problem.
